About Foundations San Francisco
Foundations San Francisco offers intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and day treatment for addiction and mental health. Their abstinence-based program treats dual-diagnoses, trauma, and primary mental health. Foundations San Francisco provides group therapy, process groups, skills shops, and weekly check-ins with clients’ primary therapists and Foundations’ on-site psychiatrist. All therapists at Foundations San Francisco are masters-level practitioners. Foundations San Francisco also provides family support, with 2 meetings each month.
Foundations San Francisco’s IOP offers 2 program times: day and evening. Their day program runs from 12-3:00pm, Monday through Friday. Their virtual evening program runs from 5-8:00pm, Monday through Thursday. Clients attend treatment at a time slot of their choosing. Foundations San Francisco tests weekly for drugs and alcohol, helping clients maintain sobriety throughout their IOP experience. They also provide day treatment, or a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for a more intensive experience. Their PHP runs Monday–Friday from 9:30–3:00p.m. Clients can attend treatment online too, using Foundations’ telehealth program.
Foundations San Francisco provides evidence-based and wellness therapies. Their evidence-based therapies include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), medication-assisted treatment (MAT), trauma-informed therapy, and relapse prevention strategies. Foundations also provides art therapy, Somatic experiencing, yoga therapy, acupuncture, and massage therapy.
Clients at Foundations San Francisco can return for alumni groups and get-togethers. Foundations San Francisco hosts monthly events for all alumni and welcomes clients back into treatment at any time. They also work with outside providers to help clients retain a level of treatment after they leave the program.

Provider's Policy:Wondering how you are going to pay for treatment can be daunting, but we’ve made it easier for you by accepting most insurances. With insurance most clients pay between $0-$2000 depending on individual plans.
Foundations San Francisco prioritizes flexible, achievable care with IOP and day treatment (PHP). Day sessions and virtual evening sessions give flexibility for clients to attend to their daily obligations and receive treatment. Their family program welcomes family members to Foundations twice a month. One session serves as an educational group, with clients and families attending together. The second meeting is just for family members, offering a supportive environment to heal with a masters-level therapist.
Treatment begins with an assessment from Foundations San Francisco’s on-site psychiatrist. They’ll help determine what, if any, mental health condition lies behind their addiction. Clients check in with their psychiatrist and primary therapist once a week to assess progress and make any changes.
Foundations San Francisco provides multiple wellness therapies for a holistic approach to recovery. They have a massage therapist, acupuncturist, and an on-site yoga studio for easily accessible care. Foundations San Francisco also teaches mindfulness, helping clients become more aware of their triggers and their physical wellness.
Foundations San Francisco works with outside providers to help optimize clients’ treatment experience, during and after IOP or PHP. Their alumni groups and events bring clients back together to enjoy sober activities in San Francisco. These include beach days, hiking, goat yoga, movie nights, and celebrations.
