Freeman House is a great place. The accommodation is great, everything is kept clean and the bedding is Egyptian Cotton ( really lovey). The therapeutic team are world class, I've been to many treatment centres and I would put Freeman House right up there with the best. The food is brilliant, and the activities outside of therapy are really great. The gym and pool and sauna all make for a healthy body. I would suggest to anyone that they go to Freeman House. Alan Freeman, the owner is amazing. He has put all his faith and hope and experience into the business and you can feel the love from the top down. Freeman is in the life saving business and boy are they doing a great job. Everyday I'm grateful for my time at Freeman. I arrived at Freeman house as one person and left there a healthy and sober version of myself. The nurture and care they took of me was incredible, and their team of wellness counsellors showed a great balance of empathy and strength. They taught me the tools to remain on this path of sobriety. The exercise and food options added to my recovery process and put me on the right path. The people I met at Freeman house are a form of consistent support and I consider them my friends.

The spacious environment and free time activities allowed me to momentarily step away from the emotionally draining experience allowing me to learn how to deal with turmoil in a holistic and constructive manner.

Our friend Tim has been an alcoholic for decades and really made a mess of his life.He was living in England, working construction. When he lost his job, things spiraled out of control. He phoned in a desperate cry for help, and our 2 friends and I realized that he was in dire straits, and his life was literally on the line. If the alcohol didn't kill him, he was suicidal and would kill himself.We made contact with Alan from Freeman House, and he coached us, in how to get him back to South Africa and into rehab. The next urgent thing we had to do was raise money. We set up a crowd funding, and got substantial financial backing from old school friends.Within two days we were able to get him on a plane and back in SA.Alan picked him up at the airport and took him to Freeman house. That personal care was very important for his recovery. Four months later he is clean, and residing in a halfway house in Joburg.We wish to thank Alan, for the care he gave. And thank God Tim's life has literally been saved.

I attended Freeman House for 90 days and would highly recommend it. You can get well here if you are willing to put in the work and take advantage of a truly first rate therapeutic team.The rehab strikes a great balance between relaxing surroundings and ease, with great food, a pool and decent a gym and cultivating the necessary disciplines needed to stay clean in the real world.This isn’t a luxury hotel, though it’s certainly no boot camp and I think that Goldilocks zone is what makes this place so unique and effective.

Freeman house is situated at a good location it is scenic, spacious with lots of fresh air, sufficient areas, with space for exercising, spending time alone and reflecting. My morning routine was a morning jog in the premises followed by a dip in the pool and an outdoor shower. The facility set up allows for adequate interaction with councillors and fellow house friends (other people seeking help). I found the programme structure and content easy to follow so I didn't feel inadequate or dumb. Some sessions were "deep" hence uncomfortable requiring you to ask yourself difficult questions. I needed that. The food was tasty and healthy, the staff were very pleasant and empathic from the admin through to the kitchen and garden helpers. I felt physical and emotionally secure and was never worried or scared. The 24hr presence of a qualified nurse(s) who had additional qualifications in addiction management was reassuring, and this was augmented by the scheduled regular visits by a Medical Doctor, clearly experienced in addiction management, and who also responds to emergency situations (which happened regarding a fellow house friend when I was there). We were encouraged to attend addiction meetings held in the area, NA, CA, AA where I personally gathered a wealth of knowledge about addiction from other peoples perspectives, an activity which continues to help tremendously since I left Freeman house. I am a health professional, just like many health professionals in our communities, and I learnt more about addiction in my 28 days at Freeman house than I thought I knew in my more than 28 years of working. The programme is based on your belief system and on which-ever greater power you recognise and believe in. It empowers you to understand yourself and realise your future. I will recommend this experience to many fellow professionals who I know would benefit from it. Keep up the good work Alan and your great team!

Over the past few years I have been to a number of rehabilitation centres in South Africa, and without a doubt Freeman House is the best! The facility itself is phenomenal and in the best possible location to help one focus on their recovery. There is a lot more individual one-on-one focus than other places and more unique care for each client. The support staff are endlessly supportive and caring, and the food at Freeman House is unbelievable! The psychological support team are world-class and there is a good mix of individual and group therapy.

I came in thinking I was the best addict, and left feeling humbled and inspired to make change. It was a special experience. My 28 days went by quickly. My depression started to lift. I started to feel lightness and happiness in life again. I started to regain control. I started to have hope and build a connection to God. But it wasn't without much guided, focused work, the quality of the professionals, staff and the housemates all contributing to a wholesome recovery experience.

Freeman house in located in Hartebeespoort, it feels more like a luxury resort than a rehab when you look at the setting, food and the facilities. The programs they run are tailor made by medical professionals working hand in hand with rwcovery professionals. The best thing for me was the philosophy of the place which is to build you up from the very start, Freeman house understands that most are broken by the time we get there, this attitude of building permeates everything they do, from the meals to the programs and facilities

I went to Freeman House for alcohol abuse. I was quite lost and anxious to start but received only warmth and support in my time of need. I was assisted through detox and encouraged by working programs and exercise and professional guidance. Food amazing, staff friendly and accommodation facilities excellent..
