About Gunnebah Addiction Retreat
Gunnebah Addiction Retreat is a residential facility specializing in alcohol and substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders like depression, trauma, and anxiety. Gunnebah seeks to heal the whole person through a mind, body, and spirit healing model. Their approach is evidence-based and holistic. Gunnebah offers medical detox when necessary, and a structured residential program that typically lasts 30-90 days.
Their structured program focuses on building life skills, developing insight, and crafting healthy lifelong habits. Treatment includes individual therapy, adventure therapy, motivational interviewing (MI), exercise, nutrition, meditation and mindfulness, yoga, and more. Clients will discuss a variety of topics including relationships, communication skills, finances, emotions, and physical well-being.
A typical day at Gunnebah begins with exercise. Clients can participate in activities like yoga, boxercise, or group fitness. Individual counseling sessions are held twice a week, while group therapy sessions are held everyday except Sunday. Family is welcomed to visit on Sundays, as clients wish, or clients can simply enjoy free time. Art therapy and adventure therapies allow for creative engagement in the healing process. Gunnebah helps clients rediscover excitement through activities like surfing, sea kayaking, hiking, and more.
Located about 2 hours south of Brisbane, Australia in Nobbys Creek, Gunnebah is in a beautiful, tranquil valley close to some of Australia's most scenic national parks and beaches. Clients will immediately be immersed in nature, with plenty of opportunities to walk lush green fields, enjoy Gunnebah’s on-site garden that produces an abundance of produce, or take care of their friendly on-site farm animals. Inside, clients will enjoy private rooms in a charming mud brick bungalow. Most rooms open out onto covered patios with outdoor furniture and native gardens. Bedrooms have ceiling fans but no air conditioning. Gunnebah’s lounge and dining area is their community hub. It's built well away from their hall and accommodations to create a separate social space, perfect for chatting, listening to music, playing games, reading, and dining. Clients can also enjoy a large gym, a resort-style saltwater pool, and gourmet dining. Gunnebah provides a natural atmosphere with plenty of recreational activities, ideal for men and women seeking to connect with nature.
