The Harris House is a charitable non-profit corporation with over 50 years of experience working with addictions focusing on a mission to help those in need.
About Harris House
Established in 1961, Harris House has been helping men and women recover from drug and alcohol addictions for over 50 years. Harris House recognizes that each person is unique and can be in different stages of the recovery process, and they offer a continuum of care at any stage. Harris House provides medical detox, PHP, IOP, a 28-day inpatient program, and transitional housing. Over the years, Harris House has created a holistic approach that recognizes the importance of a comprehensive, individualized treatment and recovery plan. Clients also receive training in employment skills, anger and stress management, depression and anxiety, as well as treatment for alcohol and drug problems. The IOP program is 12-Step oriented with the cost well below market average. Clients will receive individual and group therapy. Group sessions can be either educational or process-oriented. Educational groups cover the physiological damage of addiction to the body, disease theory, Alcoholics Anonymous steps, trigger identification, and relapse avoidance. Weekly counseling sessions involve both the family and the client. Although clients are busy with program activities everyday, Sundays are more relaxed and clients are able to enjoy free time.
The Harris House is located in St. Louis, Missouri in a safe and secure urban area. Clients have semi-private rooms, an on-site fitness center, and chef-prepared meals. Airport pickup is provided to clients from outside St. Louis. Graduates of the program are encouraged to continue in their IOP program as needed and can receive weekly aftercare groups for a year after treatment.
