I sent my 31 year old daughter to Sandstone in Calgary in May of 2022. It was roughly $26,000 and I was promised that she would be getting daily intensive individual counselling, which she desperately needed but did not receive. She received 1 hour per week of individual counseling only. 4 sessions in the entire month she was there. I was so truly disappointed. I was also told that my fee would be a tax write off, even when I confirmed that my daughter was an independent adult and not living with me. I’ve spoken to many accountants now and they all agree that I can’t write this off. I was hoping to use a good tax return to send her to a better facility this year. I feel we were all lied to on many different aspects of her stay there. We had only 1 shot at helping her (as we are still trying to pay this off) and it was a total waste of money and time. When looking for a good rehab Clinic, make sure you are guaranteed at least 1-2 hours a day of intensive counselling. I would get this in writing before paying as well. Group counselling is ok but certain people just choose to not participate in that so nothing get resolved. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone who requires intensive counseling. It more like a Big Brother house where she made great friends and had lots of down time but started drinking with her new found friends the minute she left the clinic. I know most of blame for failure is on her but the clinic did not provide the help they promised. I NEEDED extensive counseling for her and they promised to deliver, but did not
