A drug and alcohol residential treatment program and sober living facility for Native Americans rooted in tradition and evidence-based practice.
About Sunrise Native Recovery
This treatment facility aims to create healthier Native American communities and families by providing effective and personalized care for people with substance use disorders, trauma and co-occurring mental health disorders. The components of treatment at Sunrise include individual and group therapy, case management, sober events and activities, safe transportation, medical and psychiatric care, nutritious meals, physical activity and yoga, native art and music therapy, life skills building, family therapy and spiritual/cultural practices. Sunrise accepts AIHP (American Indian Health Plan), AHCCS Medicaid and private pay.
Patients’ treatment plans are culturally sensitive and personalized in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team at Sunrise. Despite the unique nature of each person’s treatment plan, all patients start the day with prayer and a sage-burning ceremony. Additionally, men and women are separated into gender-specific, monthly sweat lodge ceremonies. Sunrise also offers talking circles led by an elder, where patients can practice radical honesty and know that their conversation stays within the circle.
Sunrise works with masters-level therapists that specialize in using eye movement therapy (EMDR), equine therapy, yoga, psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), meditation and experiential therapy.
