The Barry Robinson Center provides a holistic environment that sets children, teens, and families on the path to healing. The connection that grows between the residents and the staff is the fuel that drives the entire program. Many of the residents have similar backgrounds and can relate to each other. The Barry Robinson Center provides personalized plans and therapies tailored to the individual’s needs.They match a therapist to the specialized area of need. Barry Robinson supplies a wide array of licensed therapists including social workers, marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, recreational therapists, and music and art therapists. Residents will have the opportunity to engage in numerous therapies like individual therapy, group therapy, medication management, family counseling, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and recreation therapy. In addition, residents can learn coping skills through activities such as painting, singing in the choir, or grooming a horse.
The Residential treatment campus is located in Norfolk, Virginia. The program lasts 4-6 months. Residents stay in dorm-like bedrooms with colorful murals on the wall and cozy common areas to hang out in. The 32-acre campus provides a safe and serene setting to help youth and their families overcome emotional behavior difficulties.
