About The Wave Clinic - For Young People
The Wave exclusively treats teens and young people suffering from addiction, schizophrenia, addiction, self-harm, personality disorders, eating disorders (EDs) and mental health conditions. They welcome teens for a minimum inpatient stay of 12 weeks to center them on recovery, without disruptions. The Wave treats teens and young adults with a blend of evidence-based and experiential care, connecting clients to local communities and each other.
The Wave provides a wide range of treatment for an equally wide range of conditions. Their staff and services can treat eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, ARFID, bulimia), addiction (with on-site detox), trauma, personality disorders (borderline (BPD), narcissism), and mood disorders like depression and anxiety. The Wave also treats self-harm, and offers specialized services for teens and young adults at risk of hurting themselves or others. Medical and psychiatric staff remain on site 24/7 to support teens in all programs and care levels.
The Wave’s treatment has 7 elements: clinical, medical, education, global citizenship, outside-inside, experiential, and destination–future. Each element helps instill a sense of hope, confidence, and community in each teen, young person, and family. At The Wave, clients can also further their education with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, A Level schooling, and by earning their GCSE (general certificate of secondary education), among many other programs and education tracks.
With a primary home, secondary housing, and high-level housing in Malaysia, clients can fully immerse into a new culture and community. The Wave Trust offers global citizenship opportunities for clients to educate, help, and love their local community. Young people can help at an orphanage, take care of pets at a shelter, knit blankets, and become helpful, impactful members of the community. During their stay, clients share a room with a roommate. Private rooms are assigned based on individual needs. The Wave’s culinary team creates nutritious meals and snacks. On weekends, clients can enjoy activities like whitewater rafting, Tai Chi, on-site cooking challenges, The Woscars (celebrating recovery goals and accomplishments), archery, trips to a trampoline park, and much more.
