I first ended up in a Belgium clinic. Friends decided this for me because I was too far gone to do that for myself, although I tried. I was somewhat disappointed not to be able to go to South-Africa but knew that I needed help fast, so I went along with it… Luckily this rehab had contacts with a South-African clinic and asked me if I still wanted to go there. My answer was a big YES! So, a week later I was on the plane from Amsterdam to Cape Town, to George and from there I got picked up by a driver to bring me to Twin Rivers Rehab.Twin Rivers is a nice small clinic with a maximum capacity of 13 clients. It is situated in Plettenberg Bay, a nice small town which is a vacation place for many South-Africans.It is within a fifteen-minute walk from the beach, a morning walk that we did every weekday. The program they offer you is great, besides the daily group meetings, step work and lectures about addiction, there’s also sports and outings to the beach, a hike or visiting the elephants at an elephants-nursery. Also, the weekly drama class is a nice way to set your mind of the heavy stuff you’re dealing with daily. But best of all is their incredible way of counselling! This was totally different then I experienced in The Netherlands. During my 12 weeks at Twin Rivers they dug so deep that l truly know where the addiction comes from, what it is where I was struggling with in live and how to handle these situations better in the future. All the counselors are truly engaged with your situation and passionate about their work, to help you overcome your problems. And it shows! As I write this, I celebrated my 9 months of sobriety last week. Something that I haven’t be able to do since my 30’s (I’m now 54). So thank you all Twin Rivers Team to help me change my life and be able to live it again!

Dear Sanny
Thank you kindly for your review of Twin Rivers.
I would say the key reason your treatment was such a success was because you fully embraced the opportunity from start to finish which was impressive for the Twin Rivers team to witness. Your presence and approach to recovery definitely assisted others too who were motivated by your tenacity and drive for essential change.
Well done Sanny
Best wishes
Twin Rivers Team 😊
